My name is Heyam Farrington – an international speaker, educator and executive coach who supports organisations and people to become their best.

Who am I?

I am a certified and globally recognised coach with a doctoral degree in Education Policy. I have worked with some of the world’s most reputable organisations and government bodies, such as CNN, United Nations, Emirates NBD, Dubai Airport, helping leaders and their teams build a stronger organisation – from the inside out.

This success could only happen by making a series of hard, bold choices. I am grateful and proud to have grown up in Iraq, but after surviving the first Gulf War and living in a shelter with my family, I had to choose between remaining scared and limited by what I had experienced, or taking steps toward a better future – and I chose my future.

From war to discovering
my place in the world

During the first Gulf War, I was given the opportunity to work with CNN and the United Nations as an interpreter, and this was the choice that really set me on my path to who and where I am today. I was able to tell the story of my people to the world, gaining confidence in myself through challenging, sometimes heartbreaking, experiences as both a Regional Correspondent & Interpreter and an Iraqi. This experience gave me the courage to make the hard decision to leave and join the UN in Amman so I could continue my professional journey and show the world that, as an Iraqi young lady, the sky was my limit. And it still is.

My experiences drove me to pursue my goals, overcome my own limits and use my skills to help people and societies be better and do better. We can sit back and accept where we are, or we can choose to step up and make a difference – for ourselves, our organisations and our communities. After over 20 years of working with high performing organisations, both internationally and in the Middle East, I still believe there is no challenge, situation or culture that can’t be turned around if there is a willingness to do the work.

My passion is creating spaces for people to become better by equipping organisations to lead with strength, connection and collaboration. When they can transform disengaged work environments into thriving, connected and resilient teams, this lifts their people up, which in turn lifts up the societies around them.
